2009 Update

As 2009 comes to an end we thought we would take the opportunity to update you on the site. We have had a steady flow of visitors throughout the year and we have recently topped 5000 in total since conception in 2008. As each enquiry has come in we have helped where possible and we are happy to continue to do so so thank you for your support and interest. We have updated a number of roundels this year including more recently Abkhazia Bahamas Nigeria and Sri Lanka. We still have to include a number of historial images but work on our book is underway and taking up most of our spare time.As always we welcome your comments and help and we hope 2010 will be as interesting as 2009.

Historical Images

It has taken a whie but I think we have found the best way to display the historical images we have. I have started with a couple of the As Albania and Australia and created a couple of animated gif files that scroll through the years. Now this is not a quick process and we have almost 500 images to upload so it is going to take some time but well get there eventually. SE

Historical text uploaded

Finally all the historical text has been uploaded A through to Z. There are still some images missing these are mostly just flags not roundels but needless to say this is next on the list of things to do. On a different note we have on more than one occasion been asked why are we doing this Well the book we published back in the late 1990s was aimed at a gap in the market a field that had not and has still not by anyone else been documented illustrated and published in such detail. We went on to sell quite a few copies worldwide. We didnt make much money from it but it was enough to cover costs and the hope was that we would be asked to rerelease the book periodically with all the updated information after all we live in a world of constantly changing borders and governments. Unfortunately new publications never came to fruition and we were left with a wealth of information and nowhere to put it. We were also frustrated by despite our efforts with the book the repetitive mistakes that...

The beginning

This is it months in the planning and weve finally launched the site. Following on from our successful book Military Aircraft Insignia of the World in 1999 we have been updating our records in the hope of publishing a second edition. The text still requires some tweaking which we will be updating over the next few weeks but the illustrations are as up to date as we know.
So be patient with us as we upload all images over 665 at the last count and start to populate each page with the latest content.
We will be back to you know how its going and of any changes regards SE 2.43pm
